What we do/Sakatia Dispensary

On the island of Sakatìa, which has about 1,500 inhabitants, there were no health facilities. In 2006, Change, in collaboration with the local associations Sakatìa Avenir and Les amis de Sakatìa, built a small dispensary capable of providing medical assistance to communities residing on the island and their families. In addition to the construction of the structure, technical equipment and specific machinery were sent.

After equipping the dispensary, Change launched a project of medical collaboration and support for the facility. The dispensary works autonomously, thanks to a small contribution requested from users and with the fixed presence of a local midwife nurse. Periodically volunteer doctors go to the island on a mission, carrying out specialist and diagnostic visits.

These missions represent real moments of training and updating for local health personnel, who can observe international techniques and acquire new skills.
