Agora Clubs support the "Welcome" project

The recent visit by the ACI International President and Secretary to Madagascar marks a crucial milestone for our St. Paul Medical-Surgical Center and for the communities of Ampefy.

International support is never just about funding; it's about connection, shared vision, and tangible presence. This was demonstrated by Carina, ACI President 2025/26, and Veronique, ACI Secretary, who recently undertook a significant journey to Madagascar. Accompanied by members of the Agora Club Madagascar, the two representatives wanted to see firsthand the reality of the International Service Project (ISP) “Welcome” by visiting the St. Paul Medical-Surgical Center.

The “Welcome” project, generously supported by the global network of Agora Clubs, stems from a clear urgent need: to ensure access to essential care for populations often excluded due to economic or geographical conditions: women and children.

ACI's support translates into concrete actions that save lives every day:

- Maternal and Child Care: supporting pregnant women and newborns, ensuring safe deliveries and adequate postnatal care.

- Pediatric Care: treating the most common childhood illnesses, from malnutrition to infections, with a special focus on prevention.

- Surgical Support: providing instruments and support for necessary surgeries that would otherwise not be possible.

- Local Staff Training: an investment in the future, to make the Malagasy healthcare system increasingly autonomous and competent.

A Convergence of Visions for the Future

During the visit, Carina and Veronique were welcomed by Change founders, Paolo and Teresa, and by Francesco, the project manager in Madagascar.

Discussions focused on the daily challenges faced by local staff, but especially on strategies to expand the project's impact. The support from Agora clubs is already enabling more and more patients to receive assistance, transforming solidarity into tangible results for the women and children of Ampefy.

The Importance of the International Network

The presence of Agora Club Madagascar made this meeting even more significant, highlighting that cooperation is not a one-way flow from Europe to Africa, but a horizontal network of expertise and friendship. Local clubs introduced the guests to the local area, demonstrating how local roots are essential for the success of any international project.

President Carina and Secretary Veronique's trip concludes, but the work of the "Welcome" project continues every day. Every contribution from Agora clubs and private supporters helps keep departments operational, purchase medicines, and ensure that care remains an accessible right for everyone, regardless of social status.

Thank you for your visit and continued support on behalf of everyone at Change.
